About the London Guitar Studio

The origin of the London Guitar Studio goes back to 1970 - located in the Fulham Road and trading as "The Spanish Shop". It was conveniently situated next to the then famous Spanish restaurant "Costa del Sol" where I was, for several years, the resident guitarist. This restaurant was a remarkable place whose regular clientele, to my considerable apprehension, included renowned artists such as John Williams, Paco de Lucia, Julian Bream, a very young David Russell and Jose Feliciano amongst others. I think I was very fortunate to listen to these famous guitarists playing on my own guitar in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The shop proved to be very successful, becoming sole supplier of the Spanish Vicente Sanchis guitars to the Inner London Education Authority(ILEA). The size of the orders forced us to import directly from Spain and subsequently this activity was extended throughout the UK. It was at this time that the London Guitar Studio was formed moving into first floor premises in James Street, central London and becoming solely retail. The location was excellent being close to Trinity College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music. It was also convenient for famous guitarists such as Eric Clapton who would browse for hours without disturbance or recognition.

We finally moved to our present premises in Duke Street with two floors, one for classical and acoustic guitars, music and recordings, and the lower floor for "El Mundo Flamenco", devoted entirely to flamenco instruments and clothing.

The shop is presently managed by myself and Stephanie Shaw, a gifted classical guitarist and graduate of the Royal College of Music. At the London Guitar Studio you will receive the assistance of experienced and knowledgeable professionals with a world renowned reputation for service and customer care. We deal direct with makers across the world and take great pride in personally checking each instrument ourselves.

Purchasing a guitar is an important decision for any guitarist as the right instrument can be a partner for life. Buying a guitar online makes this more difficult but if online is your only option you may be reassured to know that we have a 100% satisfaction record from our online customers as we follow their requirements to the letter clarifying every aspect, giving extra advice when needed and follow up our sales with an excellent and caring after sales service.

Being a national distributor and having a large warehouse it is very difficult to match our vast selection of guitars on offer.
