Paco Santiago Marín was born in Granada, Spain, in 1946. He comes from a family of guitar makers and has been building guitars since 1965. His father, Francisco Santiago Oliva, a cabinetmaker by vocation, instructed him in the trade and with him he remained in carpentry until 1963, the year in which he entered the workshop of his uncle, Antonio Marín Montero, to complete his training as a guitar luthier.
In 1972 he decided to become independent and created his own workshop. His son, Luis Santiago, has been working alongside him for 20 years.
Their guitars stand out for their great projection, balance and colour of sound, reasons why great international masters of this instrument have preferred them.
He has built replicas of very emblematic guitars from great builders, such as: the 1864 guitar by the builder Antonio de Torres that belonged to Francisco Tárrega. The replica was built by order of the guitarist Adrián Rius.
He has taught courses at numerous international festivals:
- During the 6th Guitar Competition and Festival in Havana, Cuba, in May 1992;
- Within the framework of the Córdoba Guitar Festival, Spain, in July 2000-2003;
- In addition, he gave a seminar at the American Institute of Guitar in New York in November 1993.
