Martin D28 Reimagined Acoustic Guitar
The Martin D28 guitar, reimagined in 2017, is a premium grade acoustic guitar. It features expert construction and next-level materials, including a Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and an ebony fingerboard.
Reinvigorating a classic
The Martin D28 guitar is arguably the best, or at least the most popular, acoustic guitar over the past 80+ years. It must still be doing something right, as its winning formula continues to hit the right notes with guitarists of all levels today. Such was the D28's popularity during the 1950s that at some points customers were having to wait up to 2 years to get their hands on one after having placed their order.
The D28 is a powerful dreadnaught style guitar and has proven popular with many a famous musician over the years. For example it was the quintessential workhorse for legends such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and many, many more. Due to its iconic popularity, Martin & Co decided to reimagine this timeless instrument and released its reimagined model in 2017. This brings together the rich history and seminal style of the D28, with Martin's latest innovations in guitar building.
The D28 reimagined comes complete with a deluxe moulded hard-shell guitar case to keep it safe in transit or when not in use.
Carefully chosen materials
The reimagined Martin D28 features a solid Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and an ebony fretboard. In addition you'll find a whole host of other modern and vintage-style appointments in the construction of this acoustic guitar.
Sitka spruce is amongst the most popular tone wood choices for guitar tops the world over. It's a wood that produces a very sweet and smooth tone, with a good amount of warmth and plenty of projection.
East Indian rosewood is another incredibly popular wood used in guitar construction. It's repeatedly chosen for its sweeping frequency range at both ends of the tonal spectrum. Compared to other comparable tone woods, at the lower end of the spectrum East Indian rosewood offers much deeper sounds, and at the top end it offers much brighter sounds. It's an iconic wood. It's versatile and the perfect partner to spruce. East Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce come together to offer a harmonically rich voice to the instrument, with a bright and sparkling top-end.
Vintage -style appointments
The Martin D28 reimagined (2017) has a number of vintage-style appointments remaining; aspects that unquestionably contributed to the unrivalled success of its namesake. You'll find open-gear tuners, aged toner to finish the top, antique-style white accents and a faux-tortoise pickguard. Along side these are an array of modern improvements, including a supremely comfortable neck profile, and forward-shifted bracing that allows the Sitka spruce top to vibrate more freely.
