About Goya Guitars

Goya is a brand name with an abundance of history in the world of guitars. It's a name born in the United States during the 1950s, where it began life as the American given name for imported Levin guitars, which were handmade in Sweden. Over the years 'Goya' has represented instruments from all corners of the globe, from Sweden and the USA, to Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The brand has changed ownership too, and was once owned by C.F Martin who distributed guitars under the Goya name until the mid-1990s.

Goya guitars had a bit of a cult following during the 1960s and were seen as a 'folk guitar' brand. Many famous singers and songwriters have owned Goya guitars over the years, including Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Nicks. With that said, taking the whole lifespan of the brand into consideration it has been most well known for Classical guitars.

The Goya guitars that we have here at the London Guitar Studio are the last in the long line of guitars to bear this name and are not related to their predecessors per se. Our Goyas are a Chinese instrument and an excellent, budget-friendly, option for a child or adult beginning their Classical guitar journey. The guitars have accurate sizing and offer a very decent sound for the price of the instrument.
