The Yamaha SLG200s Silent Guitar offers an 80% reduction in sound compared to a conventional acoustic guitar. You may be surprised to know that this near-silent performance is accompanied by an incredibly natural acoustic tone. The subtlety of the SLG200s makes it the ideal guitar for practice, travel, or stage use.

The SLG200s guitar utilises Yamaha's SRT Powered pickup system that allows you to connect headphones or a line-out. SRT Powered features effects to enhance your playing potential to perfection, and offers line-in functionality that will make jamming easier than ever.

The modern, bold design, of the SLG200s is comprised of a rosewood and maple frame. It has a clever construction in that the frame is partly collapsable meaning transportation and storage are massively improved when compared to a conventional guitar, letting you take the guitar to play wherever and whenever you need.

Sound by SRT Powered

SRT Powered is a new system by Yamaha that has been designed to replicate the body resonance of an acoutic guitar but for a bodiless guitar like the SLG200s. Through collaboration with recording artists, and by using professional equipment and a recording studio, Yamaha captured the tones of a high-end Yamaha acoustic guitar and created SRT Powered - a system specifically tailored to the unique properties of the new SLG body. With the Yamaha SLG200s guitarists get to experience the genuine body resonance, body tone and ambiance of an acoustic guitar but with all the perks of a bodiless instrument.

SRT Powered sound can be mixed with the sound from the guitar's piezo pickups, giving the guitarist even more flexibility. With the SLG200s there's no need for any complicated processes to mic-up the guitar when recording because with SRT Powered the SLG can virtually reproduce the sound of an acoustic guitar that's been recorded with a microphone in perfect conditions.

Transport

As mentioned previously the top part of the SLG200s' frame is detachable, and when placed in the luxury gig bag provided the guitar is much more practical to transport than a standard guitar, even fitting into the overhead lockers on an aeroplane.

Playability

The SLG body design is slim which offers the guitarist superb playability and also makes the transition to an electric guitar much more comfortable should that be of interest.

Design

The Yamaha SLG body is striking to look at. It has a modern feel but incorporates those classic, familiar contours that we're all used to seeing on conventional guitars. The Yamaha Design Laboratory is behind the innovative and distinctive design, a design which is unlike that of any guitar that's come before.

Yamaha claims that their silent guitars, including the SLG200s, are 80% quieter than conventional acoustic guitars. This has obvious benefits for anybody looking for privacy or looking to not disturb others, whether that's late at night or in the living room with family and friends. Although quiet, the SLG200s offers a rich, natural sound still so it remains a pleasure to play.

Durability & Stability

In terms of durability, the SLG body design offers much. Its solid body means players do not need to overly worry about damaging the instrument during transit or whilst playing. Both the nylon sting and steel string versions of the SLG silent guitars incorporate a dual-action truss rod to allow the adjusting of both the convex and concave bow.

Functionality

This guitar has the ability have an external music player connected to it so that the player can enjoy music playback and enhance their playing with a number of authentic effects. You can plug in headphones to enjoy privacy or use any of the other functions or user-friendly features that are available to make playing more enjoyable. The SLG200s comes with a built-in chromatic tuner which is compatible with not only AC power but also batteries, and what's more, is that it takes AA batteries which is much more convenient than a 9V which you might suspect would be used.

Low-cost Delivery

For the UK Mainland there is a charge of £1.95 for small parcels, £4.95 for medium parcels such as Ukuleles and £9.95 for all guitars/hard cases, as we use a courier for their delivery. Delivery charges are automatically applied to the basket at checkout.

Orders received from the channel islands are free of VAT.
