Ignacio Fleta Y Hijos (& Sons) Cedar Top Classical Guitar 1988 - Barcelona

Ignacio Fleta was one of the most important Spanish classical guitar builders of the twentieth century and his instruments were used by many of the mid-century virtuoso guitarists including Andrés Segovia and John Williams. Fleta left his home of Huesca, Spain at the age of 13 to move to Barcelona with his two older brothers to study instrument building from makers such as Benito Jaume, Etienne Maire and Philippe Le Duc. After his death, his two sons Gabriel and Francisco Fleta continued his work and this guitar is from their workshop and was made in 1988.

As expected, the sound is incredible - deep and complex with incredible dynamic range and balance. The finest example I have seen to date.

Body: East Indian rosewood. High quality, straight-grained timber showing colours of reds and browns. Slim double-line purfling with rosewood bindings. All shellac french-polished.

Front: Canadian cedar.  The rosette is the well-recognised Fleta design, Rosewood bridge with bone-framed tie-block cap. Shellac french-polished.

Tuners: Fustero originals with engraved brass side-plates and perloid buttons.

Scale: 65cm on an ebony fingerboard with 19 frets.

Condition: In excellent condition and one of the finest examples I have seen, we are extremely lucky to have this guitar. No repairs, cracks or re-polishing.
