Description

Suite in D Minor

by Robert de Visee

A new critical edition of this perennial from the original Karl Scheit series, taking account of new musical sources and performing practices.

New Karl Scheit Guitar Edition co-edited by:

Olaf van Gonnissen

Thomas Muller-Pering

Johannes Monno

Robert de Visée, musician at the court of Louis XIV is well-known to players of the guitar because of the music he wrote for this instrument. Nevertheless comparatively few of his works have been published and even these few in a manner not compatible with the original prints. The edition is based on the original print which appeared in Paris in 1686. The Suite offers proof of the high standard of musical exercise at its time and presents us with constant calues which we too can cherish.
