Thematically situated in the vicinity of Arabian fairy tales, these three caringly prepared editions are a veritable treasure chest for all imaginative guitarists. The pieces can be performed singularly or also as a cycle.
This suite for guitar solo, composed in 1991 by Carlo Domeniconi, is called a "fairy tale" for guitar. The first cycle includes seven pieces. The composer's notes provide the following insights: "Baghdad" is an oriental Toccata which sets the scene for the succeeding events, which tell the story of two Sindbads. Sindbad the Sailor is a wealthy, generous and extravagant man whereas Sindbad the Porter is humble, devout, tired and beset with life's burdens. Sindbad the Sailor begins to relate his adventures to Sindbad the Porter, telling of a journey into the unknown, being saved from a sinking ship, and finding himself stranded on an unknown island.
