Savarez Strings History

Savarez boast an incredibly long history in the production of fine guitar strings. The company began in 1770 in Lyon, France. Initially Savarez made hand-rectified natural gut strings and also experimented in metal wound strings. They progressed to fashioning strings from silk and steel and wound with brass and bronze. The company have always been at the forefront of technology and innovation and have proved to be leaders in research and product development.

When a brand new material was discovered in the early twentieth century Savarez was the first organisation to apply its use to guitar strings. That material was nylon. Savarez was also the first manufacturer to offer musicians different tensions of classical guitar strings and invented a unique rectifying process to create strings which are perfectly tuned and precisely cylindrical.

Savarez strings are acknowledged worldwide as manufacturers of the highest quality strings. The range features Corum bass strings which are accurate but highly flexible. Cristal strings are fashioned from enhanced clear nylon whilst the Alliance series is made from composite monofilament. The Savarez 520 series is the most popular choice and offers traditional nylon trebles and round wound bass strings.
